The tradition of fire-fighting appliances manufacturing in the Czech Republic began as early as 1899. The “Stratílek” company was founded in Vysoké Mýto to manufacture fire pumps and accessories. The company was renamed “THZ” (Továrny hasicích zařízení) after nationalization in 1948 and merged with the state enterprise “KAROSA” at the beginning of 1962. The manufacture of mobile fire-fighting appliances was transferred to the factory in Polička, which was one of the production plants belonging to the KAROSA state enterprise, in 1985. The manufacture of other fire-fighting equipment was subsequently transferred there too. Favourable conditions for disaffiliation of the factory in Polička were gradually formed after the revolution in 1989 and the factory became independent during the privatization in 1994. Since then it is known as „THT“ (Továrna hasicí techniky).
The general manufacturing programme at THT includes the production of various modifications of fire-fighting vehicles, vehicles and containers intended for interventions of technical nature and for elimination of environmental accidents consequences, as well as the production of custom-made special-purpose vehicles. As concerns the fire-fighting vehicles, most superstructures are built on domestic TATRA chassis, but our range includes a number of other world-known chassis brands, e.g. Mercedes-Benz, Iveco, Scania, MAN, Renault, Avia, Ford, Mitsubishi, Toyota, etc. The manufacture of fire-fighting appliances has the priority in production of the company and we have rich experience in this field (development and design of special vehicles). All designs are made on computers in 3D CAD system, resulting in high quality products. The workshop processing conforms to European standards. Individual components as well as complete vehicles are inspected by skilled personnel from the Quality Management Department during the manufacturing process several times and they must pass strict tests in the factory test-room.
We also keep the focus on anti-corrosion treatments. For this reason we adopted new advanced technologies (superstructures made of aluminium profiles or glassfibre reinforced polyester, aluminium plate panelling bonded on superstructure frame, application of superior acrylic paints, application of special preservatives on underbody and cavities), which guarantee a substantial enhancement of quality and prolongation of the vehicle service life. Complete servicing, practical training and spare parts deliveries are naturally provided by THT too. The additional manufacturing programme at THT includes the production of fittings and fire accessories. Our shop offers a wide range of fittings and fire accessories even from many domestic and foreign manufacturers, including the equipment for fire sport.
The company is currently employing about 290 people and the annual sales turnover amounts to 530 million Czech crowns. Fire-fighting vehicles made by THT, s.r.o. Polička are used in 22 countries around the world. Our goal is to expand sales to other markets and to convince the users that THT deserves a prime position among the world-wide manufacturers of fire-fighting appliances.
