Formation of a fire brigade in Vysoké Mýto
In the sixties of the 19th century, according to the federal law, various associations were founded, their main purpose being to contribute to national revival. These societies also included gymnastic unities and gymnasium fire brigades. The first regular Fire Brigade as a separate Czech organization was founded in Velvary in 1864. Following his pattern, efforts have been made to build firefighters first in large cities, then in smaller towns and municipalities.
There were many citizens in Vysoké Mýto who, like the other cities, wanted to establish a gym – fire unity, and that was done in 1869.
In 1871, with the support of Dr. Slavík, who was a member of the committee, an association called “Sokolsko – hasičská jednota” was established.
