On Thursday, July 8, 2021, meteorologists issued a warning against extremely heavy storms accompanied by very heavy rain with a possible rise in watercourses, which should hit our entire territory during Thursday night. Unfortunately, the meteorologists’ scenarios came true. Our volunteer unit intervened in a total of thirteen events during Thursday night and Friday. We left for the first event on Thursday shortly before nine o’clock in the evening and did not return to the base until Friday before two o’clock in the afternoon. During Thursday night, we mostly intervened in the fallen trees, which blocked the roads. Since early Friday morning, we have been dealing with events associated with heavy rain, flooding of lower places and the rise of watercourses. The Loučná River in Cerekvice nad Loučná reached the second flood stage and reached a level of 193 cm (third flood stage) when flowing through Vysoké Mýto. In the vicinity of Vysoké Mýto, it was spilled and flooded in places below.
