On Wednesday, shortly after 4 pm, we drove to the garage fire at the family house in the village of Džbánov. After the arrival of the first unit at the site, it was found that a car was burning inside the building. Inside was also a pressure bottle, a propane butane bottle, and a gasoline canister. The required number of stools of water was used to extinguish the fire. A pressure vessel and a propane butane bottle were removed from the affected garage. Everything had to be cooled so that there would be no explosion. Finally, a canister of gasoline was taken from the epicenter of the fire. Another reconnaissance group of firefighters in breathing equipment found that the attic of the house was smoky. But There was no way to ventilate it. Firefighters had to create an opening in the roof structure, through which the combustion products were discharged outside the building. Firefighters managed to save the entire residential part of the house, which was near the garage, from the flames. No one was inside. The fire was located shortly before 5 p.m. In another 55 minutes or so, the firefighters managed to completely end the fire. The thermal camera detected hidden fires, which were subsequently detected. The firefighters’ investigator found out that the owner was supposed to perform welding work on the car and that the cause was most likely his negligence. The damage was preliminarily estimated at 235 thousand crowns. Assets in the amount of 150 thousand crowns were saved. A total of five fire protection units (professional and voluntary unit from Vysoké Mýto and also voluntary units from Cerekvice nad Loučnou, Zámrsko and Džbánov) came to the site.
